Desert driving courses
What does desert driver training involve?
In order for companies to operate in a desert environment,
it is necessary for vehicles to travel over a variety of surfaces as
follows:
- Graded roads/tracks
- Firm, ungraded tracks
- Soft sand tracks
- Off track soft sand
- Sand dunes
Each one of these surfaces creates different types of
hazards and driving has to be adapted in order to safely
negotiate them.
Our desert driving courses aim to make drivers
aware of the different hazards involved when driving in
desert conditions and suggests techniques to help overcome
these hazards. | |

Desert driving and off-road skills that are taught
Trainees are taught about vehicle stability and rollovers,
driving on graded roads or tracks, cadence braking, gear changes,
tyre pressures, ascents, descents and failed ascents, how to deal
with varied terrain and conditions and much more.
It is advisable for trainees to have basic defensive
driving training before the desert driving skills are taught,
but this can be combined into the desert driving course if
necessary. All our driver training courses are flexible and specific skills
can be included as required, please request more information or contact Paul Woodhouse on +44 1594 545100 to discuss your
requirements.
