Demining machines are used in many of MineTech's operations worldwide. Mechanical clearance can greatly accelerate survey based demining operations, especially when used in combination with other demining assets.

With years of experience it has been found that when used correctly mechanical demining offers new approaches and possibilities to increase cost effectiveness and productivity.

MineTech provides tried and tested machines for:
  • Ground preparation (flail vegetation cutting, trip wire removal)
  • Confirmation of presence of mines (flail / tiller to include technical survey)
  • Destruction of mines (intrusive tiller tools)
  • Road and ground survey (Armoured Lightweight Mine Detection Vehicle)

MineTech has one of the largest fleets of MineWolf systems and mechanical flails in the commercial demining industry. Our innovation can be seen in our development of the Mine Detection Vehicle (MDV or Pookie), which has operated all over the world. Our fleet comprises 9 large flails for mechanical demining and ground preparation and of 7 MDVs to assist with ground preparation and detection.

Safety

MineTech is committed to adhering to and improving the safety standards of vehicle operators and machines. All MineTech demining sites require strict control and a comprehensive set of Standard Operating Procedures that are stringently followed. Issues covered include safety distances, Personal Protective Equipment, hearing protection and liaising with police and local officials.

Maintenance

To increase productivity and reduce machine downtime a mechanic is deployed with each machine and will remain on site for the duration of the project. To ensure maximum productivity, all machines are deployed with a full spares package and workshop-style tool kit and are supported with a comprehensive service and spares system from the logistics team. Mechanical training is an ongoing process and changes in technology demand a continual education for mechanical personnel. The mechanics have the requisite trade qualifications as well as continued experience with the daily maintenance of the machines. In addition to learning how to operate the vehicles, machine operators are also trained in maintenance and repairs. The mechanical fleet is supervised by the Logistics Manager who provides oversight for all projects and further assistance should it be required.
