Mine Risk Education

The Explosive Remnants of War continue to haunt local people even years after hostilities have ended. UXO and mines repeatedly take the lives of innocent people and animals. MineTech's aim is to reduce this threat and educate local populations about the effects of land mines and the precautions needed to avoid destruction, particularly in areas where no clearance is likely to take place.
Time and money prevent many communities from getting the right level of mine education and support. Empowering communities through education to self-manage the threat in their area offers an alternative solution. MineTech specialises in providing Mine Risk Education (MRE) and support for mine affected communities as well as individuals and mine action organisations. In addition to the humanitarian benefits, these activities enhance the quality of survey information in a specified area.
It is important that every individual be aware of the threat of mines and UXO. Individuals, especially children, should be able to identify mines and UXO and understand the fundamentals of how they work. They should also be taught to recognise areas where mines are likely to be and always be on the look out for mine warning signs and clues indicating the presence of mines. It is important that any community members or leaders that are enlisted to provide continuing education and information, participate in seminars and training.
Materials used for MRE are simple, clear, readable, accurate, durable and in the local language.
Please contact us or tell us about your needs for further information on our MRE programmes.

I highly recommend serious consideration of any MineTech proposal related to mine education efforts.
